We arrived in Turkey yesterday as it is our last week of holiday before we begin our new jobs, albeit via zoom and google classroom. It has been a stressful few weeks of packing and sorting stuff in China, worrying about the flight actually leaving and quarantine in the UK. We now have this time to relax before our new adventure begins. Just look at this view…
For me this is the perfect way to relax, amazing views, sun, pool and of course some of my most favourite foods. I will collect together photos, videos and hopefully some recipes of my food this week to share with you all. As a taster though, take a look at this bread we had with our mezze yesterday. It was hot, straight from the oven, and delicious. Used to mop up the yogurt and chilli dips, it was perfect. The photo isn’t great but I’m sure you can imagine it all the same.
Our sunset drinks, our mezze and the bread were all at a little restaurant right on the water called Ahi ocakbaşı. I learnt yesterday that ocakbaşı means ‘fireside’ or ‘stand by the grill’ and ocakbaşı restaurants usually have one or more large charcoal barbeques. This makes sense as you can smell the charcoal and the grilling of kebabs as you walk around the town.
That was just our first evening and we have another 5 days to go so I hope you will come back and check out my other posts. I am now heading out to search for breakfast!
